A possible solution to the blacksmithing money problem.

Main Post: A possible solution to the blacksmithing money problem.

There's lot of ways to fix smithing.

They are all pointless if devs don't acknowledge the problem or face it.

That's one way of fixing it, but not main issue. It will just delay the money printing a bit. Problem of smithing is the resources income. Pugio and thrown knives allow you to get high end Fine steel which will allow you to level up quickly and get expensive swords in no time. It won't be as effective on your companions, but still a problem.

I believe smithing should be rewarding and have 2 ways of crafting:

  1. Long/cheap way - get iron ore and smelt it until it's Fine Steel.
  2. Fight huge battles and Refine high tier weapons into raw materials.

1st way would be appealing to fresh players attempting to become smiths, 2nd would focus on hard on warriors that want some of the finest weapon in the late game. It works like that more or less right now, but again. Pugios...

Solutions to Nexus Bombing People With Money

Main Post:

It's generally accepted that giving people lots of "unwanted" free money in the form of high value commodities ruins the game for people, intentions be damned. Let's brainstorm some fair solutions.

  1. There already appears to be a block that goes up when you start giving away things. I got it during my distribution of stacks of 30 salvage data. I don't think I was ruining anyone's game as that can easily be traded away for building parts... or sold if desired. Hey, it was Christmas.
  2. What if you can't sell something you were gifted unless you know the blueprint or have it discovered in the catalog. Once you discover it, you get access to do whatever you want with it. Perhaps, you can't even tell what it is yet.
  3. Maybe there should be a class of item that can't be traded, conventionally, at all?
  4. Maybe you can't gift something to someone if it's worth more than a certain value AND represents more than 5x their current units (or some other formulaic solution against value).

Or just give us a yes/no option or a full trading interface. But people would still accept trades not know how their game is going to be wrecked. So, assuming you don't do that (or JUST that), what kind of method would you employ?

Giving items worth tons of units is gauche and uncreative IMO. Giving Starship Augments is my new jam. They are the perfect gift. They scale to the player's progression. If you have a starter ship it's a thoughtful boost. If you have a ship with 47 slots it could represent hundreds of millions.

Is money the solution to unifying the sport? $300,000 at one meet is a good start.

Main Post:

$75,000 of which will go to the best lifter.

Top Comment:

This definitely isn't going to unify the sport, but it way entice the top lifters to all do a meet together, which would be pretty neat.

A solution for Rockstar AND FiveM to make money?

Main Post:

hey, i was thinking about how rockstar and FiveM are on bad terms....

and in order to solve the feud between the FiveM community and GTAOnline, what Rockstar unbanned the FiveM developers and encourage it's development...Only with the agreement that FiveM server hosts, and FiveM developers THAT PROFIT will pay royalty fees to Rockstar Games.

this will mean that if GTAOnline dies, FiveM will keep profits rolling in for decades to come (just like how SA-MP is still alive and well...because of the scripting community)

Top Comment:

While this is good in theory, the issue would be that the project then would cost players in order to cover royalty fees because well, Rockstar would likely bend the Collective over for as much as possible.

Newbie question -- Total cost of time and money to get AWS Solutions Architect Associate?

Main Post: Newbie question -- Total cost of time and money to get AWS Solutions Architect Associate?

Top Comment: $150 for the test, $20 for the online practice exam and $N for joining acloud.guru or some other online training resource. Plus maybe a little extra $Y if you want to open your own AWS account and do some things for real. Fair warning though - the AWS exams are designed for people who have real world experience on the platform. Some people can just cram and memorize video lectures but it can be a tough test for others if you've not actually been hands on for real
